About the Piece
Alcohol-based markers on 11 x14 mixed media paper. Karen created this piece because of her interest in surrealism. Surrealism is a form of art created by unnatural juxtapositions. Karen utilizes different lines and shadows in this piece to differentiate each “realm” depicted. There are five realms: the center realm, the left, the right, the bottom, and the dark realm. Each realm has its own story and meaning. The center realm, for example, is what Karen calls the “dreams” realm. Its surroundings are unrealistically beautiful and colorfully juxtaposed with a monochromatic pool just below. This shows that if one is too caught up staring up at their dreams, they might lose track of what or who's keeping them afloat and drown. Karen believes that dreams are closely related to what the heart, but what the person is too scared to say out loud.
The one-of-a-kind, original piece comes in a gallery-quality giclée print on 111 lb paper. Available in 3 sizes, the piece is printed using archival ink to ensure clarity and color density. Additionally, each fine art print is personally hand-signed by Karen Chow.
Frame it (+30)
Framing is highly recommended to extend the lifetime and quality of your fine art piece. Your print will be mat and framed to protect your piece from atmospheric pollutants such as dirt, dust, vapor, and mold. Framing will also enhance aesthetics by increasing size, color longevity, and depth.
